You can ask questions without an account. Signing in is for keeping things: chats, memory, study sets, decks, sites and plan benefits.
Ways to sign in
- Email link. Enter your address and Keplar emails a one-time sign-in link. No password is stored.
- Email and password. Sign up with a password of at least 10 characters. Keplar emails a verification link; the account cannot log in until that address is verified. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text.
- Google or Microsoft. Sign in with your account there. Keplar receives only the profile details you approve (name and verified email).
All three end in the same place: a signed session cookie that keeps you signed in on that device.
Signed out versus signed in
| Signed out | Signed in | |
|---|---|---|
| Ask questions | Yes, on the Free models | Yes, according to your plan |
| Chat history | Kept in your browser only | Saved to your account, available on any device |
| Memory | Not available | On by default; you control it |
| Study sets, decks, sites | Not available | Stored in your account |
| Paid plans | Not applicable | Attached to your account |
Clearing your browser data removes signed-out chats. Signed-in chats are removed only when you delete them or your account.
Several accounts on one device
Use Add account or Switch account from the account menu to keep more than one signed-in account on the same device and switch instantly. You can sign out of one account or of all of them. If one account's session expires, only that account asks you to sign in again.
If a sign-in email does not arrive
- Check spam and the address you typed.
- Request a new link. Links expire and work once.
- Prefer a different method (Google, Microsoft or password) if your mail provider delays messages.
Sign-in requests are rate limited per address and per network to prevent abuse, so repeated requests in a short time are slowed down on purpose.
